I've learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what may be just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, your abilities, and your self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path. Transforming fear into freedom how great is that? – Soledad O'Brien
Recently I have been worried and dismayed by the open carry laws on college campuses being proposed in Texas. Because with the current racial tensions in the state why would we need to allow college students to openly carry guns on campus. This makes very little sense, unless you are a white male and people in society inherently do not perceive you as dangerous as you really are. It makes me angry that those in power are so blinded and deaf to the daily microaggressions, discrimination and prejudices towards minorities in the state. It as if our voices do not matter, and should not also be protected. Law after law seems to protect White middle class privilege. Laws that are not in the best interest everyone are founded in selfishness and hate.
In the midst of this I reminded myself to keep hope, continue to love those who mistreat me and to keep fighting for equality. It is through love that I believe the world can be a better place. Love is powerful and I believe it can even fix this situation.
